Dorothy Ann Barbour Register, 83, died peacefully at her residence on Sunday evening. She was born May 25, 1932 in Johnston County and resided in Raleigh all of her adult life.
Dorothy began her career as owner/operator of Dot's Beauty Shop before working with her son as office manager for Interstate Batteries of Eastern NC until her retirement.
She was well known and deeply appreciated for her wonderful cooking and always enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Everyone knew to look for her at her second home at Emerald Isle as soon as the weather turned warm. She was a true beach bum. Dorothy was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor both in Raleigh and Emerald Isle and will dearly be missed by all those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her son Courtney Q. Register. Surviving are her daughter Laraia Flores and husband Larry of Salem, VA; grandchildren, Joseph Flores and wife Natasha and Lisa Fernandez and husband Aaron of Salem, VA, Stephen Flores of Richmond, VA and Michael Flores of New York, NY; great-grandchildren, Vivian, Kate, Hank and Pete Fernandez and Olivia Flores, all of Salem, VA; sisters, Sylvia Griffin and husband Frank of Asheboro, NC and Marie Stephenson and husband Roy of Maryville, TN; special cousin Nan Baker of Four Oaks, NC; special friend, Marie Holding of Garner, NC. She also has devoted neighbors Jean and Steve Underwood and Lynn and Chris Nipper of Raleigh.
Funeral services will be held, 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 - 2:00 pm Wednesday prior to the service.
