IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dwight Earl
Minor
January 13, 1968 – February 4, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dwight Minor, a dedicated husband, exceptional father, proud grandfather, cherished brother, and loyal friend. He departed for the final time at the age of 57 for infinite blue skies, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the boundless joy of flight.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Walter Nathan Minor and Virginia Adelaide Minor, and his infant sisters, Marie and Michelle Minor. He is survived by his wife Cindy, his son Eric and wife Sarah, and his grandchildren, Berkeley, Morgan, and Deacon. He his also survived by his twin brother David (Carol), sister Michelle, brother Michael (Kim), sister in law Sandie, sister Karen (Charles), and many nephews and nieces.
Dwight was born in Michigan to Dr. Walter Nathan Minor and Virginia Adelaide Minor as an identical twin to his brother, David. His older siblings, Michelle and Michael, were proud and excited older siblings. At around 6 years old, the family moved to North Carolina, where a younger sibling, Karen, would join the family.
Dwight grew up with three main passions: flying, football, and his dirt bike. He flourished and grew into a man playing high school football at Fuquay-Varina High School under coach Graham Myrick. There are countless stories of him and his brothers entertaining the town of Fuquay on their dirt bikes. He got his private pilot's license at the age of 17, sparking a lifelong love of aviation. At 18 years old, he truly grew into a man when he became a father with the birth of his son, Eric. He and his wife, high school sweetheart Cindy had a new journey to embark upon, and they did it with love, excitement, and passion.
On the journey to his true passion of being a professional pilot, Dwight found joy and pride in a few other professions. Police Officer. Firefighter. Paramedic. He excelled at all of the jobs that you may hear a young boy aspire to. Any profession he had, he was absolutely dedicated to being the best that he could possibly be. He was a perfectionist and a consummate professional at all endeavors that he took on.
Dwight's love for flying, matched only by his love for his family, was his true passion. He was destined to soar through the skies. His mentorship of developing pilots and his stories from up above the clouds and destinations far away will continue to inspire anyone who was touched by him. As a pilot, he embraced the freedom of the skies, but it was his love for his family that truly anchored him to the earth. He was a devoted husband to Cindy, a proud father to Eric, and his heart swelled with pride and love for his 3 grandchildren, Berkeley, Morgan, and Deacon. They were his absolute joy, the light of his life, and the reason for his brightest smiles. He also had an immeasurable love for his pets, Shih Tzus names Sushi, Gracie, Charlotte and Skye, and his bird Skittles. His legacy is not just in the skies he navigated but in the hearts he touched, the memories he created, and the love he shared.
At the time of his final departure, Dwight was flying for a company and people that he truly loved and considered to be family. He was at the apex of his profession, truly cruising in the flight levels of an exceptional career.
