Dwight Henry Wadford
December 24, 1930
Dwight Henry Wadford went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2023 at the age of 92.
He passed at home peacefully.
He is survived by his daughter Karen Earnhardt and her husband Robert S. Earnhardt, Jr., Wake
Forest, NC and 2 sons, Dwight Wadford, Jr. of Wake Forest and Bob Wadford of the home.
3 Granddaughters, 2 Great Granddaughters and 1 Great Grandson, and 2 Grand Son in laws.
Dwight was a graduate of the Hugh Morson High School Class of 49, Raleigh, NC.
He was also a very competitive fastpitch soft ball pitcher and known for his great
knuckleball and his foot speed on the baseball field. He mentored and coached many young
people in the Raleigh City League, Junior League and Senior League. He also coached the first
Young Lady to play in the Raleigh Little League Program.
He was an Avid outdoorsman. Hunting quail with his brothers, friends and sons and many
different bird dogs of which he had much pride in and made many memories.
His dislikes of snakes was also the source of many stories, most of them with funny outcomes
and memories.
His large garden was another passion of which many enjoyed the fruits of his labor and
he enjoyed sharing.
Dwight loved his God, his family and his country. He was respected by many for his
straight forward attitude and willingness to help and share with anyone.
