Obituary of Earl Raynor

Earl Clifton Raynor, 85, of Raleigh, died Sunday afternoon, November 21, 2010 at Duke Raleigh Hospital.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Montlawn Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday.

A native of Newton Grove, Mr. Raynor was born September 14, 1925, the son of Harvey and Lula Lee Raynor. After serving in the United States Navy, Earl was a barber for 50 years and operated Northside Barber Shop. He was an active and faithful member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.

Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Sinclair Raynor; son, Jimmy Clifton Raynor; daughter in-law, Elaine Raynor and his brothers, Willie Lee Raynor and Harvey Raynor, Jr.

Mr. Raynor is survived by his son, Wayne Raynor and his wife Beth of Blowing Rock; sister, Annie Maude Farmer, family friend, Katherine Pilkington and his beloved dachshund, Penny.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Duke Raleigh Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Mr. Raynor.
