Obituary of Edith Templeton

Edith Templeton, 92, passed away quietly at her home in Holly Springs, North Carolina, on November 20, 2015 after a brief illness.

The daughter of Harry and Elsie McIntyre and sister of Betty, Brooke, Floss, Bob and Norma who predeceased her, Edie was married to Thomas F. Templeton, Jr, who predeceased her in 2011, after 69 years of marriage. They had 2 children, a daughter Judith and her husband Paul Kindig of Holly Springs, NC, and a son, Thomas F. Templeton, III, and his wife Sharon of Westminster, MD, grandchildren Jeffrey (Julie), Scott (Becky) and Eric (Ibeth) Kindig and Robin (Don) Hashey; Sarah (Andy) Long and Jennifer (Greg) Blake and 11 great grandchildren.

Edith spent her entire life within 5 miles of her birthplace in Gulph Mills (Montgomery County), Pennsylvania until she moved to North Carolina in February of 2015. A graduate of Upper Merion High School Class of 1940, where she was a noted athlete, Edie continued to be active throughout her life. She was primarily a homemaker but also worked as a custom flag designer, a photographic colourist, a saleswoman, and an antique dealer. She played field hockey and basketball during her school yearsincluding playing semi-professional basketball under an assumed name - quite a feat for someone who never topped 5 feet in stature, and was an avid golfer and bowler as well!

During WW2 she earned the Navy "E" award as a "magna-fluxxer" building gun turrets for Navy warships.

The family will be holding a private Celebration of Edie's Life at a later date.
