Edna Earle Smith Wells, 91, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024 in Swansboro, NC. She was born in Raleigh, NC on March 19, 1933 to the late John Herbert Smith and Emma Alvietta Shepherd Smith. At the age of 16 she married Flentril Laurel Blake, Jr and had three children of this marriage. Later, she remarried, raising three of his six children, Ervin Wells Sr became her husband of 53 years.

Edna attended Carolina Beauty School in Raleigh, receiving her Cosmetology license. She worked at a well known beauty shop in Raleigh for many years,Ridgewood Beauty Shop, which was owned by her sister Lib Yeargan. Later, she opened her own shop in Raleigh, The Golden  Touch Salon. She then moved throughout the Southeastern US, following her husband who was in the food industry. When she and her husband retired, they moved back to Raleigh, NC, eventually settling in Garner, NC. After the passing of her husband, she moved to Swansboro,NC to be near her daughter. Edna made many friends wherever she was, usually becoming the leader of the pack. She loved her sisters and went on many adventures with them. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas, for which she loved decorating her home. She loved doing all sorts of crafts, especially making and selling jewelry in her retirement years.

She is survived by her three children: Butch Blake, Chuck Blake, Jenny Blake Madorsky (Jordan). Step-children: Jimmy Wells (Todd), Leonard Wells (Joy), Edward Wells, Ervin Wells Jr (Pat), Walter Wells (Kathy), Melinda Guiher (Bill). Grandchildren: Heather Seidelmann (John), Carrie Falcone (Nick), Leslie McClintock (Max), Kelly Madorsky (Taylor). Step-Grandchildren: Kristina Lewis, Christy Funderburk (Billy), Adam Wells, Cody Wells. Great-Grandchildren: Taylor Crowley, Ryleigh Wisdom, Paulie Falcone. Step-Great Grandchildren: Kylie Lewis, Cameron Lewis, Dixon Funderburk, Daniel Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Lib Yeargan Bright, Dorothy West Norris, Billie Wall; niece: Wanda Wall Stephenson.
