Obituary

RALEIGH

Edward "Ed" Lewis Badger, son of Eugene and Laura Badger (deceased), born in Clayton North
Carolina on December 14 th 1939. He peacefully departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 31st,
2020.

Ed was educated in the Johnston County Public School System, where he attended Cooper High
School in Clayton, NC. Ed was a proud member of the graduating class of 1957. At an early age, he
joined St. Amanda Missionary Baptist Church in Clayton, NC where he enjoyed attending church
services until his health declined.

Ed married his soulmate Naomi Dobbin Badger February 4, 1966. They celebrated 54 years of
marriage this year.

In the early 1960's Ed was employed by ITT Corporation as a Sheet Metal Operator. His work
experience at ITT led he and his wife Naomi to open an operations business and move their family
to Cary, NC in 1979. Ed and Naomi and their children worked exceptionally hard from 1979-1990,
to make Quality Manufacturing Sheet Metal Company a big success.

Ed was a sports fanatic! He was passionate when he watched and talked about football. His
favorite professional team was the "Dallas Cowboys" and his favorite college team was "UNC Tar
Heels". He always enjoyed these sports while spending time with his best friend and brother-in-
law Williams (Tut) Hayes (deceased). His favorite golfing buddy and friend was Wilbert Teasley. In
his spare time, he enjoyed traveling attending various sports events as well as watching them on
TV. He also enjoyed playing basketball, golfing and fishing with friends.

Ed made himself available to help family and friends and loved to bring them together. As a
business owner, friend, brother-in-law, and uncle he created many jobs and helped family and
friends by employing them. Ed continually gave back to his community. He enjoyed debating
politics and being constant in doing his civic duty by encouraging people to get out and vote. Ed
cast his last vote on Super Tuesday on March 3, 2020.

Ed leaves to cherish his loving memory: his beloved wife Naomi D. Badger, sons Tyrone Badger of
Raleigh NC and Serome (Rosalyn) of Knightdale NC, daughter Shelia Badger of Raleigh NC, five
grandchildren Jazmin Badger, Serome Lamont Dobbin, Joshua Dobbin, Zachary Dobbin and Tamika
Freeman, 4 great-grandchildren, three sisters: Gertrude Watson, Della Hayes, and Joyce Cotton,
(His brothers preceded him in death Herman Badger and Thomas Badger) three sisters-in-law:
Geneva Badger, Lemontine Badger, and Willie Mae Montague, brothers-in-law: Silas Dobbin and
John Dobbin, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

God saw the road was getting rough
And the hills too hard to climb
So, he gently closed Ed's weary eyes
And whispered, "Peace be thine,"

Lovingly submitted,
The Family
