Edward (Ed) A. Livesay, Sr. was born on February 15, 1934. He passed away on February 7, 2016 surrounded by his wife, children and loved ones.
Ed was born to James and Frances Livesay of Wallace, NC, February 15, 1934. He has resided in Wake County for the last 54 years. While serving in the Army in the fifties, he was stationed in Italy for eighteen months. While attending NC State, he began working at Ralston Purina General where he became General Foreman and later retired from Wake Technical Community College as Physical Plant Director. Although unable to attend recently, Ed served as Deacon and a choir member at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Ed was an avid race fan and dominated the "Big Band" dance floor at many senior dance events. He was a master craftsman of jokes and life of any function. He enjoyed John Wayne movies, working on his boats and vehicles, and riding for days on end when the project was complete. His 1953 SKE Jaguar was his pride and joy.
Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose P. Livesay and grandson, Brandon Livesay. He leaves behind to cherish his memory wife of 46 years, Jean Kay Livesay; sons, Edward Livesay, Jr. (Susan) of Sanford, NC, David (Deborah) of Coats, NC and Thomas (Robin) of Raleigh, NC and daughter, Susan Joyner of Colorado; grandchildren, Connor (Malorie) Livesay, Savannah (Perry) Livesay, Adam (Joleen) Livesay, Ashley (Jason) Quinn, Heather Livesay, Krystal (Brian) Pendelton, Kevin (Amanda) Livesay and Hunter Joyner; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Nathan and Logan Pendelton.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603. Reverend Jonathan Sherrod of Westminster Presbyterian Church will officiate.
