Obituary of Elizabeth Brooks

Elizabeth "Betsy" Stevens Brooks, 61, a NICU nurse with Wake Med died at her home on Monday, June 23, 2014. She was born and raised in Raleigh and attended Fairmont United Methodist Church as a child. As an adult, she became active with the First Assembly of God where she taught Missionettes for over 25 years. She was a devoted mother and aunt and enjoyed her family very much. She met her calling as a neonatal nurse where she and her co-workers helped many premature babies to live.

Survivors include her son, Steven R. Brooks; sister, Carolyn S. Hobgood and husband J. D.; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A celebration of her life will be held 2 pm Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1-2- pm Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA of Wake County, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603.
