On Saturday, September 9th, 2023 Elizabeth Mary Coston passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Elizabeth was born on May 16th, 1932 in Beaufort Co., NC to the late William and Elizabeth Sawyer. Liz grew up in the Pamlico Beach Community on the North Shore of Pamlico River and graduated from John A. Wilkerson High School, in Belhaven NC. Liz received a BS in nursing from the Medical College of VA and Master of Public Health from UNC School of Public Health and had a challenging career in both clinical and administrative positions in nursing as well as consultant and administrative positions in the NC Medical Care Commission and NC Dept. of Human Resources Division of Facility Services.

Liz considered her greatest contribution to society was helping to save the life of a neighbor's child. Her greatest pride and joy were watching her two grandsons Joe & Tom grow up and mature into fine adult men. Some of her greatest pleasures was taking them & friends (at pre and early school ages) to the river and beach and later having them and their wives visit with Papa Tommy & Granny Liz.

Liz is survived by her husband, John T. Coston; step daughters, Teresa C, & husband Joseph E. Dupree ll & Sharon G. Coston; two grandsons, Dr. Joseph E. Dupree lll & wife Tiffany; John Thomas Dupree & wife Kate & several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Delbert M., Harold G., & Curtis l. Sawyer and sisters Doris S. Radcliffe & Bertise S. Poitter.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday September the 14th from 11 to 12 preceding funeral services at Macedonia United Methodist
Church in Cary ,NC.
