Obituary of Elsie Grogan
The spirit of Elsie Peavy Grogan, 93, took flight late Friday evening, May 16, 2008 with her family by her side at home in Raleigh.
Elsie was born in Havana, Florida on March 30, 1915. She moved to Raleigh and married her best friend John H. Grogan, Sr. on Sept. 2, 1936 who preceded her in death after 42 years of marriage. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother with a deep devotion to family and church. Elsie was an exceptional seamstress and a devoted member of Caraleigh Baptist Church. She is rejoicing to return to loved ones in heaven. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, John H. Grogan, Jr., and wife, Christine; daughters, Nancye J. Grogan, and Elizabeth A. Flora and husband Stuart, and sister, Maurice P. Mitchell. Also her grandchildren, Bonnie G. Knott, John H. Grogan, III and wife Maureen, Ron Watkins and wife Tammy, Mike Grogan and wife Catherine, Missie Boster and husband Chris, Tracie Watkins, April Mitchell and fianc Warren Berman, Kristen Mitchell and fianc Dortch Lewis, Blair Grizzard and husband Will, and April Flora. She was also blessed by her ten great-grandchildren, David, Brandon, Tristan, Elissa, Logan, Kaylen, Nolan, Leighanna, Corey, and Amelia.
A funeral service will be held Monday, May 19, 2008 at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh at 1 p.m. The family will receive visitors on Sunday May 18, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Montlawn.
