Obituary of Eugene Blackwell

Deacon Eugene "Gene" Blackwell, 80, of Garner, entered eternal rest Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Hospice of Wake County's William Dunlap Center.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Montlawn Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

A native of Chatham County, Gene relocated to New Jersey as a young man. He was a brick mason by trade and owned his own company, Blackwell Masonry, Inc. for over 20 years. Gene had always been active in the church and after returning to North Carolina was a deacon in Barbee's Chapel Harvest Word M.B. Church in Chapel Hill.

Deacon Blackwell leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Virginia "Baby Gal" Holden Blackwell as well as 12 children, two brothers, two sisters, brothers and sisters in-law, 23 grandchildren, over 22 great and great grandchildren and four adopted daughters, all of which will love and miss him forever.
