Obituary of Evangela Smith

Evangela D. Smith, 64, died August 3, 2014, with her family by her side in Raleigh, NC

She was born December 14, 1949, in Lynchburg Virginia to the late Mr. William Jones and the late Ms. Lucy Jones also of Lynchburg, Virginia

Evangela was preceded in death by her late husband Mr. John W Smith and grandchild Pekka Smith of Lynchburg, Virginia

Evangela is survived by her sister Vallory Jones of Newport News, VA; her son John W. smith and spouse Leslie of Gloucester, VA; her daughter Candice Faison and spouse Emanuel Faison of Raleigh, NC; nephews Hamid Qawi of New York and Gerald Scott of Newport News, VA; grandchildren Cierra Smith of Gloucester, VA and LeDre Brown of Lynchburg, VA; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friend and an devoted angel Freddie Dillard.

Evangela, affectionately referred to as Pearl, conquered many obstacles in life. She remains in the hearts of those she touched and will be greatly missed

Inspired by "Pearl"

My My My. It has been a Journey to tell.

I'm sure as hard as I have tried to keep this a secret, you know by now, I've not been feeling well.

I decided one day, to board the Greyhound bus and take a ride.

Please understand my family, my body, mind and soul was just so tired.

My heart & spirit is now at rest.

I know it may not seem this way,

but I did my very best.

ShhhI hear a whisper in my ear, God is calling my name, wipe your eyes this is no time to cry,

I'm at the finish Line Now I must say Good-By.

I have just one more thing to say. Always remember, don't run a race that's meant to be walked,

embrace every moment in life or you will miss the final talkwalking in my healing.
