Evelyn Matthews Barbour, 86, of Raleigh passed away April 25, 2017. She was born September 29, 1930 in Wake County. She was the daughter of the late Vellie Faison Matthews and Lois Chappell Matthews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Erich Alfred Barbour, a younger sister, Esther Ruth Stathis and her baby sister, Ruby.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Montlawn Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.

She is survived by three daughters, Laverne Lois Barbour of Myrtle Beach, SC, Teresa Bunn Lawson and husband Steve of Youngsville, NC, and Melissa Barbour Harmon of Clayton, NC, two sisters, Joyce Megginson and Betty Shakarji, a brother, Vellie Matthews, five grandchildren, Brandie D. Robertson and husband Kyle, Kandie M. Spangler and husband Chad, Leslie B. Raynor and husband Shaun, Michael A. Jackson, II, and Shelley B. Chavis and husband David "Dino", and nine great grandchildren, Tyler Hickman, Michelle Bunn, Shyheim Jewels, Meya Chavis, Jordan Spangler, Taylor Spangler, Madison Raynor, Chandler Raynor, and Bexley Raynor.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. at Montlawn Funeral Home.
