RALEIGH
Frances Sue Mitchell Misner, 83, passed away peacefully due to complications from stroke and pneumonia. She was born in Clayton NC to the late Johnnie B. Mitchell, Sr and Susan L. "Sue" Tomlinson Mitchell.
Frances graduated from Hardbarger's Business College and worked in Raleigh in state government. She was married to the late Raymond Hugh Misner, Jr. for 56 years and lived in Raleigh. Frances was a charter member of the Colonial Heights Garden Club and together with Hugh, they were charter members of the Colonial Heights Recreation Club. She was a preschool teacher and childcare provider for many years.
Frances loved her family, her only grandson, pets, birds, flowers, crafts, music and the Francis Asbury Class at Edenton St. United Methodist Church where she was a member since 1955. She enjoyed traveling with Hugh for many day and weekend trips, sightseeing along the way.
She was preceded in death by her brother, J. B. Mitchell, Jr.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Sharon Misner Efird and husband Chris, and grandson, Nathan C Efird.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 2:00 PM with visitation starting at 1:00 PM at Montlawn Funeral Home and Cremations, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh NC 27603.
Donations may be made to Meals for Seniors or Music Ministry at Edenton St. United Methodist Church, 228 W Edenton St, Raleigh, NC 27603.
