Obituary of Frances Sherron

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Frances Dillon Sherron announces her passing on May 3, 2015 at the age of 91 years. She was born to William Otho and Maude Dillon Goad on March 16, 1924 at 315 S. Boylan Avenue in Raleigh. Frances was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, William and Thomas. She attended primary and secondary schools in Raleigh as well as graduating college with a Batchelors of Arts degree from Peace College.

Frances was a lifelong member of Edenton Street United Methodist Church as well as a long standing member of the chancel choir. She was an avid reader of books and daily devotionals, with her love of music, Christian beliefs, compassion and love for her fellow man being the cornerstone of her existence. She was an enthusiastic volunteer at Rex Hospital and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 293 at Millbrook Masonic Lodge # 97.

Her husband, F. Graham Sherron, Jr. preceded her in death in 2006. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Fran M. Mercer and husband Jackie of Raleigh; son Thomas Haslin Mansfield of Raleigh and step-son, F. Graham Sherron, III of Norfolk, VA. The number of lives touched by Frances is truly immeasurable and she will be greatly missed by her many loving friends and family.

The family wishes to acknowledge the extraordinary level of care provided to Frances by in-home caregivers, Carolyn R. Puckett and Aya Chantal Ngoran during her last years, as well as her attending physician, Dr. Thomas Kline and nurse practitioner, Carolyn Concia. Their care and compassion far exceeded any degree of expectation and for that the family will be forever grateful.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Montlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 7 pm with Reverend Edward F. Hill, Jr. officiating.

The family requests no flowers and encourages memorials to be made to Meals on Wheels of Wake County or The American Heart Association in Frances' name.
