Obituary of Frank Turner

Into the hands and loving arms of our Lord, Frank R. Turner, Jr. was committed this December 7, 2011. He joined his mother and father Frank Turner, Sr. and Elizabeth Maxwell Turner.

Frank Choo Choo was born in Raleigh and educated at Needham Broughton High School Class of 1941. He worked for Seaboard Airline Railroad for 30 years and Norfolk Southern Railroad for 12 years as an Engineer, and was a member of the Raleigh Chapter of Brotherhood of Railroad Locomotive Engineers.

He is pre-deceased by his parents as noted above; 2 brothers, David Oliver, and William Maxwell Turner; and a sister Louise T. Saunders, and his dear friend Louise Benton.

Survivors include his daughters, Anne T. Bland and husband John, and June T. Mann and husband Bill, both of Raleigh; a sister Nancy T. Sturdivant of Chapel Hill; grandchildren Valerie and Tim Shelton of Zebulon, Bentley and Dan Shuller of Wake Forest, Stephen and Francy Mann of Willow Springs and Catherine and Mike Medina of Cary; as well as his most precious great grand-children, Sara and Savannah Shuller, and Emily and Lillie Grace Shelton; Zeb and Jack Mann, his buddy Bandit; and many nieces and nephews who knew him as Uncle Frank.

Frank Choo Choo once said to enjoy retirement you have to have lots of hobbies and he did. He loved to hunt, fish, play bridge, collect antique engines stamps, coins, and toy trains. In his retirement years he enjoyed the fellowship at Cary Presbyterian Church.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers will be appreciated at Barium Springs Children's Home, Statesville, NC in memory of Marguerite Turner Gray.
