Frank William Wilshire III, 80, was called to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 1. He was born in Covington, Kentucky on December 8, 1940, to Frank William Wilshire, Jr. and Virginia Wilshire. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 38 years, Judith Miller Wilshire.
Frank retired from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where he served as a Chemist for over 25 years. During his retirement he worked as a substitute teacher for Wake County Public Schools and did part-time tax preparation at H & R Block.
Frank was a man of great integrity, wisdom and strong character. He was compassionate, generous, kind-hearted and a defender of what he believed in and especially those that he loved. He led by Godly example and left a legacy for his children. He taught his sons what it meant to be a true leader of the home by instilling biblical values to them as head of their own households. He taught his daughter what a good man was and what to look for in a husband. He prioritized his family by working full time while earning his B.S. in Chemistry in the evenings in order to provide for his wife and children.
Frank was an athlete by nature, he played high school football and basketball and even had the opportunity to play church softball with his adult son into his early 50's. He loved coaching his children whether it was baseball, basketball or football and he rarely missed a game that any of his children played. He gave new meaning to what it meant to be selfless and loyal especially when it came to the love of his life, Judy. He took early retirement in order to care for her while she battled cancer and he even shaved his head when her hair began to fall out so she wouldn't have to endure the agony on her own. Frank was the embodiment of a perfect father and loving husband.
He leaves to cherish his memory son, Brian and wife, Lisa of Hendersonville, NC; daughter, Lisa Stokely and husband, Sheldon of Hertford, NC; son, Josh and wife, Agnieszka of Holly Springs, NC. He is survived by his eight grandchildren; Jake, Brianna, Alaina, Hannah, Elijah, Elizabeth, Victoria and Anthony.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 9 at Montlawn Memorial Park, Funeral Home. A private burial will take place at the cemetery following the service.
The family will receive friends at the home of Frank Wilshire on Saturday, July 10 from 2:00-5:00 P.M.
