Frederick D. Bingham
Frederick Dana Bingham, 80, of Clarksville, VA, formerly of Raleigh, died Saturday morning, February 7, 2009.
Funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon Thursday at Montlawn Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
A native of Raleigh, Frederick was the son of the late William Glenn Bingham and Grace Stearns Bingham. He was a 1946 graduate of Hugh Morson High School and then served in United States Marine Corps from 1946 to1948. Frederick then graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and began his career as a geologist for Mobil Oil Co. in India, Pakistan and Texas, retiring after 30 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked as a geological consultant on the Clarksville Bypass Bridge at Kerr Lake for the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Frederick is survived by his wife, Billie Johnson Bingham; son, Dane Bingham, both of Clarksville, VA; brother, William Bingham of Raleigh and a cousin, Jean Stearns Nardiello of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Stearns Bingham.
