Freeman Charles Wilder, 90 a lifelong resident of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on 2/21/2025 at his son's home in Louisburg, NC. A devoted husband, father, friend, papa, and servant of Christ, he will deeply be missed by all who knew him.
Born and raised in Raleigh, Freeman graduated from Hugh Morson High School before proudly serving in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he pursued a fulfilling career and later retired from NC State University.
A dedicated member of Athens Drive Baptist Church since 1962, his faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was passionate about spreading God's love, taking numerous mission trips to Honduras to serve those in need. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith touched many lives.
One of his most cherished moments was the beautiful double wedding where he was united in marriage to Katherine Turner Wilder on July 24,1954 alongside his brother-n-law, and sister-n-law, DW and Mary Frances Turner, a true celebration of love and unity.
He is survived by his son Robert Wilder (Glenna), Daughter-n-law Cindy Wilder, all of Louisburg, NC; Grandsons, Anderson Wilder (Jaimee) of Youngsville,NC, Blake Wilder (Kristen) of Franklinton,NC, Avery Wilder, of Zebulon,NC, Grayson Wilder of Louisburg, NC, three great grandchildren, Asher, Reeves, and Collins, several nieces, nephews, as well as many dear friends and a loving church family.
In addition to his parents, Freeman was preceded in death by his wife Katherine Wilder, son Ronald Wilder, brothers Lee, Warren, Leonard, Thomas, Millard, Billy, and sister, Louise.
