Obituary of George Jones
George D. Jones, 69, died Wednesday.
He was a US Army veteran, who served as a sergeant in the Vietnam Era.
He had worked as a draftsman for Florida Steel, Peirson & Whitman Engineers and Bigger & Agnew Engineers and an estimator for Baker Roofing.
He was an accomplished photographer (always "the man behind the camera"), loved music and played guitar, loved hiking and camping in the mountains and at the beach. He was loyal and would do anything to help a friend.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by: three sisters, Bobbie Jones, Bonnie Shumate, Faye Kelly; a brother, Ronald Jones.
Those left to cherish his memory include: a daughter, Lisa Jones Everhart and husband, Charles "Chuck" of Sedalia, MO, two step-daughters, Billie Jean Taylor and husband, Mike, of Youngsville, NC, Cindi Powell of Raleigh, NC; a brother, David Ward Jones; three granddaughters, Nicole Everhart, Jessica Everhart, Alicia Powell; three grandsons, Leland Everhart, Tyler Clinebell, Nicholas Davis; three great-grandchildren, Andrew Powell, Brookelynn Powell and CJ Newsome, Jr; long-time friend, Lynn Powell of Raleigh, NC.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2014 at Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603, with Rev. Dr. Bruce Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm Monday prior to the service.
