Obituary of George Manire

George Lemuel Manire, 74, of Durham, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday morning, January 3, 2012.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday prior to the service.

A native of Christian County, Kentucky, George was born January 8, 1937, the son of the late John Silas Manire and Ruby Grace Manire. He was a retired chemical engineer with the Environmental Protection Agency, a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a member of the Kernersville Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. George served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a Second Lieutenant (2LT).

George is survived by his sons, D. Shawn Manire of Middlesex, G. Shannon Manire of Durham, J. Shelby Manire of Wade, H. Shane Manire of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Kendall, Luke and Wade; sister, Flora Schaller of Kentucky and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
