Obituary of George Seidel

George Russell (Sy) Seidel, 78, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 at his

home in Garner. George was born July 18, 1932 in Williamsport, Pa. He was

preceded in death by his parents Frank and Helen and daughter, Erin Seidel.

George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marti, his brother Stan Winner

and sister Helen Badis. He is also survived by his son Randy and daughter

Becki. George (Poppy), cherished his five grandchildren, Jason, Alyson,

Bryan, Hazel and Zak and six great grandchildren Sy, Maddox, Carly Grace,

Aina Mae, Harper, and Rylee .

In his youth, George was a superb athlete in college, the Air Force and then

in professional baseball. Following a 45 year career in the furniture

industry, George retired to North Carolina to be closer to family.

George will be truly missed by all whose lives he has touched with his

humor and love.

A memorial service celebrating George's life will be held at Montlawn

Memorial Park. 2911 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC at 11:00a.m.
