Obituary of Gladys Jones

Gladys Robinson Jones, 84, passed away peacefully at home June 4, 2012 after an extended illness.

Born in Emporia, VA, she moved to Raleigh at the age of 8. She was predeceased by her son Robbie Jones as well as her parents, Bernard E. Robinson and Minnie Robinson Couch and tow brothers, Bernard Robinson and Edward Robinson.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Everette H. Jones and her daughter, Gayle Shaw Barefoot and husband Steve as well as a nephew and two nieces and their families.

After retiring from CSX she enjoyed traveling and staying at her vacation home on Lake Gaston. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend. Mrs. Jones was a member of Westover United Methodist Church for over 50 years and active in various West Raleigh organizations. She was a founding member and past President of North Carolina Kidney Disease Foundation.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday at Montlawn Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Wright and Rev. Kermit Braswell officiating. Interment will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 am Thursday at the funeral home immediately prior to the service.
