Harold Delano Hinton, Sr., 83, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 after dedicating his life to his love of work, clients and family.
Harold was born March 14, 1933 in Johnston County, NC.
After graduating from Corinth Holder's school, where he was active in many sports, he married Shirley Allen. He served several years in the Army during the Korean War, being stationed in Japan.
After returning from military service, he began his work career and continued his education to obtain an Accounting Degree. Up to the time of his death, he operated his accounting practice for over 60 years, providing his many clients with bookkeeping, income tax and personal financial advice. He was very active in the NC Society of Accountants serving in many capacities including being a Past President of the NCSA.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Lola Hinton; brothers, Kevin and Bobby; and sister, Maloye.
He is survived by his children, daughter, Sonja Emerson; sons, Danny Hinton and Michael Hinton (Dana); brothers, Donald (Marie) and Richard Hinton (Lois); sister, Joanne Lewis (Alvin); grandchildren, Jessica, Jenna, Daniel, Cameron, Caitlin, Hannah; step-grandchildren, Chris and Steven; great-grandchildren, James and Abbey and former wife, Shirley Allen Dark.
A service celebrating Harold's life will be held Monday, March 28, 2016 with a visitation to be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon and the funeral service to follow at 12:00 noon at Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC. Pastor Gary Allred of Holland's United Methodist Church will officiate the service. Interment will immediately follow the services at Montlawn Memorial Park.
