Obituary of Helen Peterson

Helen Caroline Hawkins Peterson, 86, of Raleigh, passed away peacefully Friday evening, September 16, 2011 at the Laurels of Forest Glenn in Garner.

A Celebration of her Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Montlawn Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Montlawn Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

A native of St. Paul, MN, Helen was born December 13, 1924, the daughter of the late Carl and Elsie Hawkins. As long as her health permitted, she was an active member of Faith Alliance Church in Garner. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Helen was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristy Ford, in 2003.

Helen is survived by her husband of 59 years, George "Skip" Peterson, Jr.; son, Ricky Peterson (Sandy) of Aurora, CO; daughter, Mindy Robertson (Thomas) of St. Petersburg, FL; son in-law, Charlie Ford of Atlanta, GA; brother, Howard Hawkins (Donna) of St. Paul, MN; six grandchildren, Charlie Ford, Kristen "Nikki" Ford, Zachary Ford, Micah Peterson, Ryan Robertson, Anna Robertson; great granddaughter, Logan Savannah Ford as well as many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Alliance Church Missions Fund, 2225 Aversboro Road, Garner, NC 27529.
