Obituary of Helen Lattier
Helen Taylor Wells Lattier is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She passed away in the peace of her home and surrounded by family on Sunday evening May 2, 2010.
She was born on July 30, 1935 to Kenneth and Gloria Evelyn Taylor and lived in Raleigh all her life. She graduated from Hugh Morson High School in 1953. She worked as a switch board operator for Southern Bell, was employed by First Citizens Bank and then worked in the payroll department of the State Department of Administration.
She was a member of Midway Baptist Church near Garner where she served in various capacities including an adult Sunday school teacher.
She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Oscar Lattier; her mother, Gloria Evelyn Taylor, 96, of Raleigh; her son, Michael Wells and wife Tammie Wells, of Garner; her daughter, Stephanie Armstrong and husband Rick Armstrong of Knightdale; her grandchildren, Scott and Christy Wells and Rachel, Benjamin, John and Kenneth Armstrong; her brother, Richard Taylor, of Kansas City, Mo., and sisters Mary Lou Elliott of Charlotte, NC and Barbara Taylor of Salt Lake City, Utah and several nieces and nephews.
Her family and friends will remember her for her generosity, her sense of humor, and the love and pride she had for her children and grandchildren. She was often a bold witness of her faith in Jesus Christ. During her long battle with cancer, she was confident of where her soul and future resurrected body would reside for eternity.
The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at Midway Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 5 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a private family only burial at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh, NC.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Wake County for their compassionate presence and assistance during Helen's last days and Dr. Kenneth Zeitler and staff of the Rex Cancer Center.
