Helena Loo-Yee Chang Liu passed away peacefully at her home, The Cypress of Raleigh, on December 17, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on December 6, 1933, in Shanghai, China, Helena journeyed from her homeland at the tender age of 14 to pursue her education in England. She later continued her studies at Garland Junior College in Boston, MA, where she met the love of her life, Andrew Tze-Chiu Liu.

Helena and Andrew enjoyed 45 years of marriage, during which they raised two daughters and called many places around the world home. Their residences included London and Bramhall, Cheshire in the UK, Beaumont, TX, Hong Kong, Ponca City, OK, Houston, TX, York, PA, and ultimately Raleigh, NC.

Helena is survived by her elder daughter, Genevia Liu Andrews, and her husband Ken, who reside in Raleigh, NC. Genevia has two children, Caitlin, married to Joseph Schilleci, and Christopher, married to Taylor, both of whom live in Charlotte, NC. Caitlin and Joseph have blessed Helena with two great-grandchildren, Quinn, and Charlie. Her younger daughter, Andrea Liu, resides in Cranston, RI, with her husband, Greg Spatuzzi, and their son, Dylan.

Helena is also survived by her beloved siblings: sister Rose-Jean Fang of Hong Kong, sister Gwendolyn Chang, and brother Roger Chang, both of whom reside in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Her ashes will be interred at Montlawn Cemetery, Raleigh, NC, where she will rest alongside her beloved husband Andrew. Helena's presence will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love and cherished memories will endure through her family.
