Obituary of Henrietta Pate

Henrietta Joyner Pate, 89, of Dixie Trail, passed away September 29, 2013. Henrietta was born in Mullins, SC, April 27, 1924, the daughter of the late L. H. and Lila Joyner. She graduated from Mullins High School and attended Winthrop College.

While living in Goldsboro, NC she met her future husband Fletcher V. Pate and they were later married in San Marcus, TX while he was stationed there during World War II. She was a founding member of Forest Hills Baptist Church where she served as pianist for the children's choir for 22 years.

Henrietta is survived by her husband of 68 years, Fletcher V. "Bud" Pate; her son, Fletcher J. Pate and wife Nancy; daughter, Sandra P. Pierce and husband Stuart; grandchildren, Pate Pierce and wife Anna, Brent Pierce and wife Kari, Walt Pierce and wife Mary Page, Michael Pate and wife Beth, and David Pate and wife Cindy; great grandchildren, Fletcher, Camille, Liza, Henry, and Dempsey Pierce.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Montlawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be private.
