Herman Dennis "Buddy" O'Neal, 91, of Fuquay-Varina, went to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 27, 2026.  He was born in Warren County, North Carolina, to the late Herman and Columbia O'Neal.

Herman served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 1973.  He served in Italy, France, Panama and Enewetak.  He was an avid woodworker during his retirement.  He loved his church, Baptist Grove Baptist Church, Fuquay-Varina, and served in many roles.

Herman was preceded in death by his son, Terry Lee O'Neal; brother, George O'Neal; sisters, Jean Barefoot and Virginia Gupton. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy W O'Neal; his brother, Jimmy O'Neal (Nancy); his sister, Peggy Taylor (Mike); his children, Alan D O'Neal (Maureen), Mark O'Neal (Lynn), Deborah Freeze (Darrell), Darlene Scoggins, Angela Mitchell (Lynn), Robert A Holt, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, February 10, 2026 at Baptist Grove Baptist Church, 6140 Christian Light Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526 with visitation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Baptist Grove Baptist Church, Fuquay-Varina, NC or Transitions Lifecare Hospice,
