Obituary of Horace Pace
Horace S. Pace, 94, died peacefully in his home Wednesday, August 25, 2010 after several months of declining health. He was born in Franklin County, NC, son of the late Robert and Beulah Mullen Pace of Pine Ridge Community.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre and was awarded the Purple Heart. He retired from Winn Dixie Stores in 1978 and the Angus Barn in 2001. Horace and Lou were members of Emmanuel Baptist Church since its beginning in 1950 and he supported his church in many ways. He was preceded in death last year by his wife of 66 years, Lou Tant Pace; and also by three brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his sons Bob Pace and Tim Pace of Raleigh; daughters Dianne Charter and husband Russ of Sneads Ferry; Kathy Keith and husband Larry of Cary; grandchildren Alex Kelly and husband Jimmy of Chicago; Alicia Pace of Austin; Brandon Keith of Apex and Christopher Keith of Cary; as well as other special relatives.
The family wishes to thank the relatives, friends and the special staff at Hospice for their care and concern for Horace.
The funeral service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. The burial will be private.
