Obituary of Howard Hodges

Howard Clay Hodges, Sr., 68, of Raleigh, passed away Tuesday morning, October 11, 2011 at Wake Medical Center, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2011 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

Born May 18, 1943 and raised in Elizabeth City, NC, Howard was the son of the late Joseph James Hodges and Bessie Muse Twiddy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Weaver and Betty Smith.

Howard is survived by his loving wife, Linda Williams Hodges; son, Howard Clay Hodges, Jr., wife Kelly, and their children James and Olivia of Raleigh; daughter, Sonja Leigh Hodges of Raleigh; brother, David Hodges and wife Ann of Elizabeth City; sisters, Lucille Harrell and husband Marion of Hertford, and Josephine Forbes of Hertford; and many nieces and nephews.

Howard was a wonderful, loving husband, who was dedicated to his wife. In his early years he loved to golf and later did a lot of traveling, which he came to love as well. Howard had a very special place in his heart for his grandchildren, whom he adored. He also loved and missed his special dog, Cody.

The family would like to extend a special Thanks to the staff of Wake Medical Center, who took such great care of him in his last days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Howard to the Alzheimer's Association - Eastern North Carolina, 3737 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27612.
