Obituary of Hubert Tant, Jr.

Hubert "Eddie" Edward Tant, Jr., 59 of Willow Springs, passed away, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Born September 15, 1954 in Wake County, NC, he was the son of Ruth Tant Chappell, step-mother, Doris Pope Tant, the late Hubert Edward Tant, Sr and step-father, Billy William Chappell. In addition to his fathers, he is preceded in death by his son, Chris Tant.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 37 wonderful years, Barbara Ann Tant; a sister, Sonya Huff and husband Fayette; 4 step-sisters; 3 step-brothers; and several nieces and nephews.

Eddie graduated from Pittsboro High School, and was self-employed as a truck driver where he was known as "Smut". He was full of life and a fighter to the very end. Eddie loved to make people laugh and had a heart of gold. His laughter will be missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in memory of Eddie to Caraleigh Baptist Church Food Bank, 1400 Green St, Raleigh, NC 27603.

A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at Montlawn Funeral Home.
