Hylah Lassiter Exley, born in Potecasi, North Carolina and longtime resident of Garner, North Carolina, died on February 5, 2023 at the age of 82 while surrounded by family. Hylah is survived by her husband, Louis Exley; her children, Gregory Exley (Beverly and son John) and Lori Williford; her granddaughter, Ashley Williford; and her sister Agatha Belvin (Jim). She is also survived by many extended family members. Hylah is predeceased by her mother, Elsie Capel Lassiter; her father, Jack Lassiter; and her brother, Edd Capel. After graduating from Campbell University with a degree in accounting, she worked various jobs before working for and retiring from North Carolina State University. Hylah and Lou got married August 10th, 1963 and spent nearly 60 loving years together. Hylah and Lou purchased a beach house in Oak Island, North Carolina in 1988 and have spent much of their time there ever since. Hylah played bridge with a group of friends for many years. She loved to travel with Lou across the world to places such as Germany, England, Las Vegas, and Alaska. Hylah had a passion for antiques. She bought and sold pieces at antique shows and shops for much of her life. She had an eye for treasures and spent much of her time collecting pieces for both her booths and herself. Hylah had the most generous, caring heart and valued family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved her. A visitation is scheduled for 2:00-4:00pm on February 11 th at Montlawn Memorial Park at 2911 S Wilmington St Raleigh, NC 27603.
