RALEIGH

A devoted wife of 71 years,  a mother of 4, a grandmother of 5, and a great grandmother (Wowee) to 6 children. Irene Nugara passed away on July 6, 2021 after battling with dementia and Alzheimer's. She spent her final days at the Addison of Durham Memory Care Unit.

Irene was born May 31, 1931 in Braddock, PA. She was the youngest of 9 children from an immigrant family from Poland. Irene married her husband Millio Nugara on November 5, 1949. This marriage lasted 71 years and flourished two sons (Mario Nugara & James Nugara) and two daughters (Karen Clawson & Mary Tarney). Irene and Millio lived in Western PA for 48 years and have spent the last 23 years in Raleigh, NC. They both attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raleigh, NC.

Irene will be remembered for fun, always smiling, and laughing way of life. She enjoyed cooking for large family gatherings, baking cookies, creating the best potato salad in the world, and enjoying her hot peach and oolong tea all day.

Irene is survived by her husband Millio, her 3 children, Karen, Mario, and Mary; their spouses, Larry, Richard, and Dave; her 5 grand children, Matt, Cynthia, Katie, Jeremy, and Helen; their spouses Sabrina, Benjamin, Frank, Sarah, and Micah; her 6 great-grand children, Carter, Riley, Gunner, Dominic, Sofiana, and Harrison.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raleigh, NC on Friday – July 16 ^th at 2pm. Please send condolences to the family via the Montlawn Funeral Home website. The family would ask for donations, instead of flowers, to help find a cure for dementia and Alzheimer's.
