IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jack Lewis
Clark
May 2, 1940 – September 19, 2019
After many months battling diverse illnesses, Dr. Jack L. Clark, 79, of Apex, NC passed away on September 19, 2019 in Pittsboro, NC.
Jack was born in Warren, Ohio on May 2nd, 1940. He graduated High School from Warren G. Harding in 1958 where he was a member of the National Honor Society and later inducted into the Warren G. Harding Hall of Fame. He went on to earn his BS and DDS from (Case) Western Reserve University School of Dentistry. He later went on to earn his MD from the Medical College of Ohio. He did his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota receiving two Fellows and was later asked to stay on staff. Afterwards, he returned with his family to the Medical College of Ohio as an educator. Being an educator and giving back to his community was very important to him. He has been a consultant for the U.S. Surgeon General, various public television programs, law firms, and drug companies. After his children had all finished their studies and were establishing themselves in their careers, he decided to fulfill a long-term dream. He founded Comprehensive ENT in Southfield, Michigan; a group of Afro-American physicians whose goal it was to better educate Afro-American patients and to improve their quality of care.
His hobbies were everything having to do with Aviation. He loved flying, building airplanes and earning his pilot's licenses many years ago. Always open for a good joke he was known to laugh the loudest at his own.
He was a highly decorated officer achieving the status of Colonel in the Airforce and Airforce reserves where he served for over 40 years. He, also, did a tour in the Gulf War in 1990-1991.
Jack is survived by his children Pamela of Apex NC, Christina (Tobias) of Essen Germany, and Jon (Linda) of Plantation, Florida and six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Luretta Clark, brother James, sisters Geneva Thompson (brother-in-law-James), Sadie Washington and nephew James E. Thompson.
