Jacob Basco Lewis, 80, of Garner passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. He was born September 14, 1937 in Wake County son of the late Bernice T. and Elsie Rhora Lewis.

Mr. Lewis was a school teacher for 30 years and was also a 4H Leader. He was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and an avid Tarheel fan.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Montlawn Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Chad Morris officiating. Entombment will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, Lula Johnson Lewis, a son, Jacob Basco Lewis, Jr. and wife Wanda of Clayton, two daughters, Patricia Lewis Apsitis and husband Erick of Charlotte and Elsie Lewis Brantley and husband Mike of Benson, a sister, Clara Stevens and husband Charles of Raleigh, four grandchildren, Crystal Turner and husband Jason, Joshua Apsitis and wife Taylor, Christy Brantley and Christopher Brantley, and three great grandchildren, Carter Edwards, Carter Turner and Tyler Turner.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at Montlawn Funeral Home.
