Obituary of Jakey Bryant

Jake Bryant, 78, of Garner, NC passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon at Durham VA Medical Center. He was born in Martin County, NC to the late William Carey Bryant and Mary Bullock Bryant.

Jake was a veteran of the US Air Force and graduated from NCSU with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. He worked his entire career with Pratt & Whitney, first in West Palm Beach, FL, then as Field Manager in St. Louis, MO. Following retirement, he and his wife, Patsy, spent several years in Florida where he enjoyed golfing, boating, and spending time with family and friends. Jake valiantly fought Parkinson's disease for 30 years and will be remembered for his kindness and determination.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Patsy Porter Bryant; son, Joel Bryant and his wife, Lisa Bryant of Land O' Lakes, FL; son, Darryl Bryant and his wife, Gaby of St. Louis, MO; stepson, Jeffrey Keith of Garner, NC; stepdaughter, Julie Galbo and her husband, Wes Galbo of Raleigh, NC; granddaughters Lauren, Sarah, and Emily Bryant of Land O' Lakes, FL; and granddaughters Katie and Abby Galbo of Raleigh, NC. He also is survived by a brother, William Bryant, and sisters, Viola Cannon, Peggy Owens, and Jean Haddock.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sandra M. Bryant; by his brother, William Carey Bryant, Jr.; and by his sisters, Helen Bryant Jones and Rachel Bryant Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 26 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 1201 Maxwell Drive, Raleigh, NC, with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
