Obituary of James Allen
Mr. James R. Allen Jr. passed peacefully to his heavenly home on September 25, 2013. Better known as Junior or "JR" by family and friends, he was born May 31, 1944 in Greenwood, SC to the late James R. Allen Sr. and Lizzie Mae (Hembree) Allen. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce "Burton" Allen and a son Michael Wayne Allen (Carol).
Left behind to cherish the memories of a Good Man are sons Jimmy Allen (Shanda) of Greenville, SC and Jeff Allen (Ann Marie) of Willow Springs, NC, daughter Brook Allen Bennett (Tim) of Raleigh, NC, step-sons, Brandon Addison, and Rusty Addison, sisters Sue Barber (Whitey) of Sherrills Ford, NC and Linda Keyes (Joe) of Ellisviile, MS, grandchildren Chris Allen (Rissell) of Raleigh, Madison Allen of Greenville, and Timara Bennett of Raleigh along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to the immediate family above, "JR" gained an extended family through a very special friend, Alice Harris, who he loved dearly! This relationship with Alice brought with it, Alice's two daughters Tonya Walls (Steve) and their children Lucas and Lauren and Adrienne Todd (Ron) and her child Codie. Dad enjoyed many good times with his extended family and our family was glad he had them in his life.
One last person I am sure dad would have wanted mentioned here is his dear friend Jimmy Rowland. Jimmy was one of those true, once in a lifetime friends who could be depended on through thick and thin. It was evident in Dad's last days what this friendship meant to both men.
Dad was employed with Swift Creek Extermination for many years and although he was past his initial retirement age he continued to work because he simply enjoyed working and staying busy, but more importantly he loved the people at Swift Creek and he loved his customers, many of which asked for him by name when requesting service.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2013 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel.
