James Joseph Ellison left this life to be with God on August 16, 2020. He is survived by his mother and father, Crystal and Jeff Ellison, and brother, Barry Carroll Ellison (Cary), all of Winston-Salem, NC; maternal grandparents, Sylvia and Carroll Byrd, of Kinston, NC; and paternal grandparents, Nancy and Barry Ellison, of Madison, NC. He is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts and cousins.
James grew up in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida, establishing lifelong friendships with many along the way. James was loved by so, so many people and was a dear friend to countless numbers of folks.
James was born on February 21, 1992 in Greenville, NC. He graduated high school from Foundation Academy in Winter Garden, FL in 2010. He graduated form the University of Central Florida (GO Knights!) in 2014 with a double major (Legal Studies and Political Science). He continued his studies at the University of Florida Levin College of Law (GO Gators!) where he earned his Juris Doctor in 2018. James passed the Florida Bar Association Examination on his first attempt in 2018. He immediately began his career with Wicker Smith O'Hara McCoy, & Ford P.A. in Naples, FL as an associate attorney and was employed there at the time of his passing. James was admitted to practice law in the state of Florida in 2018.
James loved sports, personal fitness, his family and many friends and all things related to wildlife.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 29 at 3:00 p.m. at Montlawn Funeral Home & Cremations, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh NC 27603.
In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the World Wildlife Fund or the family asks that live plants be sent instead of flowers.
