James "Jim" F. Hales, 76, of Raleigh, passed away on Thursday, July 4th at Rex Hospital. James is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lila Hales; children, Mike (Tippi) Hales and Cindy (Mike) Joyner; grandchildren, Summer (Mike) Pilkington, Alan-Michael Hales, Trent Garriss and Zach Joyner; s ister-in-law, Shirley (Steve) Eason; along with many nieces and nephews. James was predeceased in life by his parents, Perry and Hazel Hales; brothers and sisters, Jessie Woodruff, Bill Hales, Rose Ballance, Bette King, Janet Watkins, and Judy Upchurch.
