James Lonnie Holt, 98, passed away at his home in Raleigh, North Carolina on August 20, 2024. He was born on June 5, 1926, in Holly Springs North Carolina to Marcus and Hilda Mae (Collins) Holt. Lonnie attended Hugh Morson High School in Raleigh.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. After his military service, Lonnie began a very long career at the News and Observer as a printer where he retired after over 40 years of dedicated employment. He was a charter member for sixty years at Trinity United Methodist Church in Raleigh, where he served in many capacities.

Mr. Holt is survived by his son, Kim Holt, and several nieces and nephews along with their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona (Bumgardner) Holt and by his five siblings.

Lonnie's funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh NC, 27603.
