James.. "Jimmy" Carlton Marsh, 63, of Raleigh peacefully passed away in Raleigh, NC on September 6th, 2023.
He was born December 30th, 1959, to John Thomas Marsh and Mary Lane Marsh in Greensboro, NC. He grew up in Garner, NC and graduated from Garner Senior High School in 1978. After many years of working, he returned to school and obtained an Associate Degree of Applied Science with honors.
With his talent of working with his hands he began his career as a precision machinist at EDS under the mentorship of Mr. Bill Bunn. He participated in the design of many prototypes such as the rumble stripes on 440, a mechanical heart or for those who desperately needed a part that no longer existed he was able to design and construct what was needed.
He had a passion for music and art. Before playlists he would make cassette tapes of his favorite songs and continued as technology changed. Enjoyed many vacations with friends and family from camping in the mountains to the beach.
Fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Deborah Pittman Marsh, and they were married for 45 years.
They had a daughter, Michelle Marsh Schweitzer and son-in-law Michael Curtis Schweitzer, and three grandchildren Felicity, Nathan and Allison. He is survived by his beloved mother Mary Lane Marsh, sister Johnna Marsh Dilling and niece Kristin Nicole Dilling.
He was preceded in death by his father John Thomas Marsh and grandparents, James Manteo Lane, Edith Marlin Lane, John Dewey Marsh and Molly Spear Marsh.
Memorial Service will be held at Montlawn Funeral Home on September 12, 2023, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hope Reins, a 38-acre Christian ranch that provides equine therapy with rescued horses to assist children who have suffered from a crisis. https://hopereins.org
