Obituary of James Perry
James "Vernon" Perry, 89 of Raleigh, passed away Saturday evening, May 25, 2013 at Tower Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born May 4, 1924 in Franklin County, NC, he was the son of the late Mallie Simpson Perry and Annie Catherine Perry. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Lynwood Perry and Clifton Perry; sisters, Grace Abbott, and Margaret Robbins.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife of 63 wonderful years, Grace J. Perry; sons, Ronald James Perry and wife Mary Catherine, Wesley Howard Perry and wife Linda, Stanley Kent Perry and wife Nita; grandchildren, Renee M. Pearson, Brittany W. Rowe, Elizabeth M. Perry, Leah N. Perry, and M.J. Hall; great-grandchild, Noah M. Rowe; and sister, Mary Gray Goswick.
The Perry family would like to express their gratitude to the kindness shown by the staff and CNA's at Tower Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, as well as Dr. Susan Glenn for her compassionate care during his illness.
A Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Dr. Richard Childress of New Hope Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.
