Obituary of James Price

James Rayburn "Ray" Price, 78, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. Ray was the owner and dealer of Ray Price Harley-Davidson for 34 years. He served in the US Air Force and was a Mason. Ray was inducted into five Halls of Fame which included the Sturgis Hall of Fame and AMA Hall of Fame. He owned and raced the fastest naturally aspirated motorcycle in the world and holds the NHRA top fuel championship for the second year in a row.

Ray was a kind and gentle man who always had time for people and would talk to anyone. His smile was legendary. His community involvement included charity rides for Marine's Toys for Tots, the Ray Price Easter Basket Ride and brought to the City of Raleigh The Ray Price Capital City Bikefest, which has been running for the last eleven years.

Ray held a deep love for his family, employees and customers as well as the Raleigh H.O.G. Chapter and Harley Davidson Motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean Price; his daughter, Robin Richardson and husband Terry of Fuquay Varina; his grandson, Jordan Richardson and wife Katie of Cameron; his granddaughter, Rebecca Richardson of Raleigh; and his brother, Randall Price and wife Anne of Virginia.

The family will receive friends at Ray Price Harley Davidson, 1126 S. Saunders Street, Raleigh from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Sunday, December 20, 2015.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at the Red Hat Amphitheater in downtown Raleigh. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the USO of North Carolina,RDU Terminal 2, 2400 John Brantley Blvd., Morrisville, NC 27560 or the US Veterans Corp, 104A Woodwinds Industrial Ct., Cary, NC 27511. These were two charities that Ray continued to support.
