Obituary of James Springer

James Andrew Springer, Jr. 88, died Friday at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was a retired customer service representative for Carolina Power and Light. He owned and operated a HVAC and refrigeration business in Southern Pines until 1971. James was a US Navy veteran from 1943-1946 and then entered the Naval Reserves in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1953. For many years, he enjoyed teaching advanced HVAC and electrical skills at Montgomery Technical College. James was a loving father and grandfather and spent his life serving and helping others.

Surviving are his sons, Alvin Springer and wife Debra of Garner, and James A. (Jamie) Springer, III of New York; daughter, Sallie Bowie of Dana Point, CA; grandchildren, Dallas Springer and Alison Springer of Garner and Jonathan Bowie of Dana Point, CA; sister, Helene Nichols of Rockingham; partner, Gloria Dillard of Garner; Gloria's son and grandchildren, James Bryan Dillard, Alexander James Dillard and Carlie Sue Dillard.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30pm -2:00 pm Tuesday prior to the service
