Obituary of James Stephenson

Jim Stephenson passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 at his home after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Raleigh. Jim is survived by his wife of 46 wonderful years, Sonja Manning Stephenson; his Boykin Spaniel "Cocoa" that he loved dearly; cousins: Joyce, Ann, Jim, Mary Lou, Sally, Barbara, Marvene and many devoted and loyal friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.O.C. Stephenson and Ethel Reddish Stephenson.

Jim was a self-employed realtor-broker for more than 40 years. Jim was one of the founders of the Wake County Wildlife Club and he co-chaired the first "Dixie Deer Classic". He and Sonja shared the love for the outdoors as well as hunting turkeys and deer. Jim thoroughly enjoyed catching an 8 1/2 lb. bass from his pond (of course, he put him back into the pond for another day of fun) and he and Sonja caught many nice bream from the pond.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wake County Wildlife Club, P.O. Box 99048, Raleigh, NC 27624 or Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Wake County Wildlife Club, 1313 Coley Road, Durham, NC 27703.
