Jane was best known for her love of family and friends. Over the years, many of her favorite times were
spent at the ballpark, beach or in Baltimore visiting family. After becoming a grandmother she spent
many hours attending baseball and softball games, dance recitals, plays, concerts, cheer competitions,
horse shows and football game half time shows. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved husband
and their cocker spaniel, Bailey. Her new great-granddaughter, Maggie, was the sunshine in her life.
At Westover UMC, "Miss Jane" was well loved by all of her young preschool students and their families.
The Zach Tree Ministry was also very close to her heart.
Her unwavering dedication to her family and her infectious laugh will be sorely missed by those who
love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Durema Godwin and her son Todd Overby.
She was survived by husband of 56 years Tom Overby, daughter Sharron Gibson and son-in-law Kent
Gibson, granddaughter Sarah Gibson all of Raleigh; granddaughter Meg Sargent & Grandson in law
Brandon Sargent, great granddaughter Maggie Sargent of Selma NC; grandson Justin Gibson of Memphis
TN and many extended family members in North Carolina and Maryland.

The family will receive friends Sunday, February 24, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603. Funeral services will be held at Westover United Methodist Church, 300 Powell Dr, Raleigh, NC 27606 on Monday, February 25 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
