Jane Allen Purtell, 64, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jane was born Carolyn Jane Hinton on January 22, 1952 in Wake County to her parents I.H. and Edith Hinton.

Jane graduated from Enloe High School, Peace College and N.C. State University in Raleigh, NC. She found her niche in life serving as a Realtor for over 25 years. Prior to that, she was a schoolteacher. She possessed an array of artistic talents, including painting, singing, and playing piano. She was steadfast in her devotion to her Christian faith. She enjoyed vacationing at the beach, particularly Emerald Isle, NC. Jane was a remarkable woman, beloved by so many.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents and her stepson, Billy Purtell.

Jane is survived by her husband, William B. Purtell Jr. of Massachusetts; her son, Jason Allen of Klawock, Alaska; her daughter, Jonay Zies and husband David Zies of Cary, NC; her granddaughter, Stella Zies; her sister, Gail Beamon and husband Dwayne Beamon of Cary, NC; her stepsons Scott Purtell, Tim Purtell and wife Kristin, Jim Purtell and wife Colleen; and her step-grandchildren Jillian, Kaylee, Brayden, Emma, Max, Evan, Summer, Nathan and Mackenzie.

The family will hold a visitation on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 3:00 - 5:00pm at Montlawn Funeral Home 2911 S Wilmington Street, Raleigh. A celebration of Jane's life will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 1:00pm, also at Montlawn Funeral Home, Internment at Montlawn Memorial Park.
