Janet Lee Thomas Jones, 71, died Sunday morning at her second home in Mooresville. Born on May 18, 1944 in Friendsville, MD, she was the daughter of Zenas and Sally Rhodes Thomas. She was a graduate of Garrett County High School. Janet was a former mail carrier, a former employee of Adams-Millis Textiles and currently a senior mail clerk with the NC Rate Bureau.

Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Lester Burton "LB" Jones, II; sons, Clyde Samuel "Jay" Fike of Maryland, Stephen Ross Fike and wife April of Richlands; daughters, Lora Lee Jones of Winston-Salem, Carolyn Ann Jones of Garner; grandchildren, Hannah Collis, Katie Bland, Paige Fike, Mary Fike, Jacob Lee Walker, Jessica Lynn Walker and Michael Thomas Jones; several great-grandchildren; brothers, William Thomas and wife Polly, James Thomas and wife Flo and Wayne Thomas and wife Maxine; sister, Betty Fields. She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Fike.

A funeral service will be held 8:00 pm Thursday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Snow Hill Cemetery in Snow Hill, NC. The family will receive friends at Montlawn Funeral Home from 7-8 pm Thursday prior to the chapel service.
